Customers with digital e-Edition subscriptions can read their news using an Amazon Kindle. The e-Edition on Kindle is considered a “non-replica” version, which means that while it provides the same stories as what appears in the paper, it doesn’t include advertisements, certain graphics and pictures, comics, puzzles, or other features. The instructions below show you how e-Edition subscribers can access their news on the Amazon Kindle.

NOTE #2: San Jose Mercury News subscribers have an additional option. You can purchase a monthly $5.99 subscription directly from Amazon. This subscription on Kindle is considered a “non-replica” version, which means that while it provides the same stories as what appears in the paper, it doesn’t include advertisements, certain graphics and pictures, comics, puzzles, or other features. Step 1: From your computer, login to e-Edition.
Once you log in, you will see a page like the one above.
Step 2: Click the "eBook" icon
Step 3: On the "e-Book Editions" page, click "help" link next to "Amazon Kindle"
Step 4: Print out the instructions below. Then, on your Amazon Kindle, please follow the instructions that appear on the "Help" page.
Please note that these instructions only pertain to the Kindle 2 & 3 (with physical keyboards on the Kindle) but not the Kindle Fire or Kindle Touch.
Step 5: After following the instructions above, you will see a page with dates on your Kindle. Click on the date of the issue you want to read.
